Assignments and Current Dropped Students in the Gradebook

Every gradebook is based on date ranges. Assigned work will appear in a gradebook that contains the due date of the assignment.

For example:

Gradebook - Dashboard

An assignment with the due date of 12/15/06 will appear in the English 1 CP Gradebook, Term 1.

An assignment with the due date of 1/3/07 will appear in the English 1 CP Gradebook, Term 2.

School Loop keeps grade information for any current or former student in the gradebook. You can show or hide dropped students at any time by using the Show/Hide Dropped Students toggle button.

Show/Hide Dropped Students

Students that are dropped will appear with a line through the name. The grades for any dropped students do not go away. You can also change grades of dropped students as well.

Students that are in your course during the date range of the gradebook appear active in the gradebook. If the end date of the gradebook is later than the date the student was in your course (in the case of a dropped student), the student remains in your gradebook but will appear with a line through the name to indicate the student was dropped.

If a student transfers from one period to another within the same course, the student's grades will transfer. Grades will not transfer from teacher to teacher but will transfer within the same gradebook. NOTE: All grade changes must occur in the period where the student was active when the assignment was created.

When a course ends, all students are technically dropped. When this happens, School Loop automatically closes the gradebook for your Course Center by creating a new gradebook that starts on the day the students were dropped. This keeps the students appearing as active during the date range of the course. Note: the new gradebook will be titled with the course name and the date. You do not need to use this gradebook, it exists in order to establish an end date to your original gradebook.
